know you probably all saw the movie back in ’96, but I just blitzed through the book, and it’s quite gripping. Bear in mind that ’96 was over a decade ago (I know!) and that you haven’t seen the movie since then, because no one picks this up off the VHS shelves and says ‘Babe, I got our date night!’ and so while you kind of think you have a gist of what happens in the plot, you’ll find yourself going ‘Land sakes! I forgot about that!‘ and clutching your heart in terror.
It’s not actually terrifying. At least, not in a gruesome, chainsaw massacre sort of way. But it’s well-written and fast-paced, and there’s even a part where the protagonist more or less says ‘A bunch of stuff happened in this large space of time, but I’m not going to bore you with it. Here are the Cole’s notes’ which, to be honest, I appreciate in a narrator.
Also, it’s less than 200 pages.
